I used to do this most weekends in 1997 & a lot of the time it was just 

me on the train although i did meet one guy from Germany who was 

big into English Parly trains & the guy walking down the platform had 

come up from Wimbledon in London just to get the train move in

Newhaven Marine is unique because it like it stuck in a time warp it 

even retains it's original Network South East station sign on the wall 

which made comming here even more iconic if only to get a pic of 

this 1980's relic from the past

Top little boozer this proper old fashioned country pub with proper 

fire and wait for it up to 15 beers on tap YES 15!!

that run through the station during the day and it's a photo hot spot 

for Rail Photographers due to there being three power stations in the 

local area so a vast amount of coal trains run through the day 

feeding the power stations outside of the 3 trains a day to Goole the 

only other thing to run past Knottingley is the Coal trains!!! & the 09 

shunter as seen in the above picture that shuttles between 

Knottingley Depot and Milford Sidngs to shunt the wagons there.

  • During the Weekend of the 29th - 30th Oct (but it had been on for a few days prior to this) all trains running Manchester Picc to Bolton / Southport where diverted and it gave us track bashers a chance to get the very rare Parkside Jct - Golbourne Jct side of the Newton Le Willows Triangle in so i couldnt hang up the chance of getting this in so spent sunday getting it in the book both ways top bit of track that. 

The above shows a very rare sight at Man PIcc to see a destination board with this on this was the day i finally got Parkside Jct - Golbourne Jct in the book

47198 caught fire at Basingstoke whilst hauling the 6Z32 Longport-Fawley tankers. Damage was severe and loco was withdrawn, it was dumped @ Eastleigh for quite a while so a pic had to be done

serving the Redditch Branch but the Through platforms 1 & 2 only 

get a very limited service.

middle of Nowhere apart from the pub outside it was dead quiet i 

could hear the unit coming back to pick me up for a good 2 mins

own style logo signs & a new Timetable poster that quite unique as 

you will see later i went back here on 8th July 2011 to get some 

better pictures for the site so enjoy the new shots.
